Description

(“Kōyō” 紅葉 = autumn foliage, golden-brown leaves glowing in sunlight. A metaphor for the warm sunburst motif, golden-brown tones, and speckled scabbard that resembles scattered light through autumn leaves.)

The Kōyō Katana captures the fleeting beauty of autumn sunlight—subdued, golden, and timeless. Its presence is one of quiet harmony, every detail flowing into the next. The sunburst motif of the tsuba radiates outward, echoing warmth and vitality, while the deep brown hineri-maki wrap rests gracefully over black rayskin, a steady foundation beneath the brilliance.

The saya, in a glossy kincha finish flecked with light yellow and black, resembles scattered rays of sunlight filtering through autumn leaves—an artistry both natural and deliberate, like brushstrokes across a canvas. It is a balance of warmth and depth, radiance and shadow.

This katana does not strive for grandeur, but instead embodies a cultivated elegance. Its golden-brown hues and understated fittings make it a piece that grows richer the more it is seen—much like autumn itself, a fleeting moment of brilliance preserved in steel and lacquer. The Kōyō Katana stands as a reminder that true beauty lies not in extravagance, but in the harmony of subtle tones and thoughtful design.
