Description

The Yatagan is a Turkish knife or short sword that is characterised by its relative short blade and hilt with a T-shaped or cross-shaped pommel. The grip is usually made of materials like wood, bone or horn with ornate decorations. It was a popular sidearm in the Ottoman Empire carried by various individuals, from soldiers to civilians. It was not only a functional weapon but only a symbol of status and prestige. Elaborately decorated yatagans were often carried by individuals to showcase wealth and social standing.

Today, Yatagan are often collected as antiques. Well-preserved and ornate examples can be sought after by collectors and enthusiasts interested in the history and craftsmanship of edged weapons.

The handle of this version is made of real ram horn.
