The ninjatō (忍者刀) is allegedly the preferred weapon of the shinobi from feudal Japan as portrayed at modern ninjutsu practitioners and popularised by modern culture. Due to the lack of physical evidence for its existence, history of the ninjatō can only be accurately chronicled from the 20th century onwards.
Typically, it is depicted as being a sword sword with a straight blade and square guard.
