Custom knifemaker Christoph Gihring of Forge Works from Freiburg im Breisgau takes a brief break from traditional Black Forest imagery—Bollenhut, cherry cake, and cuckoo clocks—and focuses on the timeless Boker Plus Sentinal.

As a fixed-blade everyday carry knife, the Sentinal impresses with its clip-point blade made from Swedish 14C28N steel, offering excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. The smoky stonewash finish helps conceal scratches and signs of wear, making it well-suited for regular use.

The robust full-tang construction, with a continuous tang running through the handle, ensures that tasks such as opening boxes, carving wood, and cutting rope are handled with ease. Lightweight black G10 handle scales provide a secure grip, even in wet or cold conditions. The textured surface enhances control, while the screwed-on scales can be easily removed for maintenance and cleaning.

For those who appreciate minimalist designs, the Sentinal can even be converted into a skeleton knife by removing the handle scales.
