Ieyasu Tokugawa was the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan that ruled Japan until the Meiji Restoration in 1868. He was known as one of the three "Great Unifiers" of Japan, alongside Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi. During his reign, he implemented the bakuhan system (bakuhan taisei 幕藩体制) to keep the daimyo and samurai in check. 

Ieyasu Tokugawa was a visionary and skilled leader who left a lasting impact on Japanese history. His character was defined by his political acumen, military expertise, pragmatism, and the establishment of a centralized government that ushered in a long era of peace and stability.
