The Khanjarli of southern India is large and very distinctive double-edged fighting dagger; the forward curve of the blade gives it excellent slashing capabilities and the acutely tapered tip is a powerful puncturing weapon. The blade of this example has been forged from damascus steel and the skillful mixing of two different steels into a single blade by the smith imbues the blade with brilliant patterning made when folding the steel billet.
The substantial grip is skillfully carved from wood and the grip has two inset rings of brass surmounted by steel. The dagger is paired with a robust scabbard of carved wood with inset brass pin decoration. A removable leather frog with an integrated belt loop allows it be worn and a buttoned retaining strap keeps it secured into position
